Pints for Prostates

September is Prostates Cancer Awareness Month; thank you to those who donated

11/23/2017 This past Saturday, we kicked off our 7th Annual Homebrew Competition.  Part of the festivities that day also included a fundraiser for Pints for Prostates, a grass roots campaign that uses beer to reach men and start crucial conversations about their health.  With help from Pints for Prostates, we shared statistics about prostate cancer including information about risk factors. We also accepted donations for them, which were personally matched by Larry Bell, president and founder of our brewery. Thank you to everyone who helped us support this cause! For more information on how you can contribute, go here.  And be on the look out for special blue Crowns for a Cure on bottles of Bell's beer!

Help start a conversation; look for Pints for Prostates crowns on bottles of Bell's beer

We are again proud to work with Pints for Prostates. Craft breweries across the U.S. are using special Pints for Prostates crowns to help encourage men to talk with their doctors about scheduling health screenings.  This nationwide effort coincides with National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September.  “The craft beer community has been incredibly supportive of the Pints for Prostates mission and generously assisted us in getting our message to millions of men,” said Rick Lyke.  Lyke is a prostate cancer survivor who started Pints for Prostates in 2008 after successful treatment for the disease. “If Pints for Prostates Crowns for as Cure reaches just one guy who benefits from a prostate health screening, then the effort will be a huge success," he continued. We will be spreading our supply of crowns across as many brands and bottling runs as possible in order to help reach as many people as we can.  If you spot one of these special crowns, help us continue the conversation by sharing a photo on social media and use the hashtag #CrownsforaCure and tag @pints4prostates. Include the brewery name too (we are @bellsbrewery on Twitter and Instagram) along with the location where you found it. Below is a video from Larry Bell, a prostate cancer survivor.

Bell’s partners with Pints for Prostates to help encourage conversations about men’s health

11/25/2015 We are proud to be one of 14 craft breweries across the U.S. to partner with Pints for Prostates on a new way to start a conversation about men’s health. 400,000 total bottle caps (crowns) were made featuring the Pints for Prostates logo along with a special message and have been distributed among participating breweries to be used in upcoming bottle runs in November and December. Printed on the underside of the cap is the message “Reaching men through the universal language of beer” along with the Pints for Prostates website address (see attached photo). Pints for Prostates was founded by prostate cancer survivor and beer writer Rick Lyke in 2008 to raise awareness among men about the importance of regular health screenings. They make appearances at beer festivals and other events and promote their message on social media via other advertising.   “We are excited to be partnering with some great craft brewers on this first of its kind program that will put a reminder in the hands of men to take charge of their health,” Lyke said in a press release. “We hope these bottle caps will start thousands of conversations and encourage guys to talk with their doctors about scheduling prostate cancer screenings,” he added. Our caps will be spread among multiple bottle runs in order to spread this message as widely as possible. Look for them on bottles of Amber Ale, Bell’s Lager (Lager of the Lakes), Cherry Stout and Java Stout. For more, please visit their website.
